Educational Lectures
Throughout the week, swimmers will learn how to improver their stroke in and out of the water. In addition to stroke technique we also offer daily educational lectures to help swimmers improve their performance. These lectures include:
Sports Nutrition
The swimmers will learn the basic fundamentals of nutrition with an emphasis on sports nutrition. General proper eating will be emphasized along with suggestions of what to eat:
Before and after practice
Before and after swim meets
What not to eat
Energy drinks
Injury Prevention
Although swimming is a low impact sport, the repetition of the stroke can easily cause injury, especially if the stroke is performed improperly. The Swim Clinic focuses on proper stroke technique and pre-swim stretching which can help prevent many types of injuries. However, proper technique and stretching are just part of injury prevention. Devon, the Regis College Head Athletic Trainer, has prepared a lecture that focuses on:

Yoga
In addition to daily stretching regimens, one of the daily lectures will revolve around basic yoga positions. Although yoga is not standard for swimmers, there are many benefits including:
Increased flexibility
Muscle strengthening
Increased blood flow
Overall feeling better
Competition
The swimmers will learn how to prepare themselves better for competition from a mental perspective. This lecture is toned to help swimmers get over anxiety of a race or a big meet, allowing them to enjoy their competition more. Some of the aspects of this lecture are:
